Bond 2024

UPDATE December 8, 2023

Basehor and Linwood communities -

In a historic move, the Kansas Secretary of State announced last week that the March 19 election will be a Presidential Preference Primary election. This will only be the third time this has happened in Kansas (also 1980 and 1992)!

This means any other election needs to take place at least 45 days before or 30 days after that March 19th primary, so after working closely with our bond counsel and the Leavenworth County Clerk, the Bond 2024 election date will move to April 18, 2024.

While this will set our timeline back a few months, we look forward to being able to have more time to inform our nearly 12,000 registered voters about our Bond 2024 projects.

The $60 million dollar no mill increase bond issue would allow us to:
  • make Safety and Security improvements around the district
  • build additional classrooms as well as a multipurpose space and performing arts upgrades at BLHS
  • build additional classrooms for preschool and childcare at our Early Learning Center
  • as funding allows, we would also make athletic facilities improvements at Basehor-Linwood High School and Basehor-Linwood Middle School
  • as well as other renovations necessary to existing District facilities, as funding allows

Our plan is to move our Bond 2024 information meetings to February and March, so please make plans to attend one if you’d like to know more about Bond 2024. Dates for those meetings will be announced soon!

As a reminder, you can find more information on these planned bond projects on this website below, with an updated timeline in the FAQs reflecting the new voter registration deadline of March 28 and election date of April 18, 2024.

Please feel free to call the District Office at 913.724.1396 with any questions you may have!

The Basehor-Linwood School District would like you to share your opinion on a few important issues through a survey facilitated by ExcellenceK12, a company that works with school districts on community research. It should take you 4 to 6 minutes to complete.

Please note, the survey can only be taken once per device, and if you begin the survey and then exit before you have completed it, the system will not let you return later (so you might need to try another device). All your answers will be confidential.

{Survey now closed}

During the next few weeks, several school district patrons will be contacted at random to participate in a telephone survey, as well. Please don't hesitate to answer that call, even if you have filled out this online survey (find more details in the press release below!). The results will be separate reports - the phone survey will be a scientific sampling of our Basehor-Linwood School District residents, whereas the staff, parent, and community surveys are voluntary and purely for the purpose of collecting additional feedback.

In addition, we will be hosting Bond 2024 Community Meeting Nights at each of our school buildings, at Linwood Library and Basehor Community Library in September and October. We really want to hear from the community what you think our District should look like in the future, so please fill out this survey and/or plan to attend one of our Community Nights to let us know what you think!
