Basehor-Linwood USD 458 is located in southern Leavenworth County. The District contains 90 square miles and incorporates the cities of Basehor and Linwood. The resident student population is just over 2,500 students. In addition, Basehor-Linwood Virtual School enrolls nearly 200 students a year.
USD 458 is the fastest growing city and school district in Leavenworth County. The Legends area, east of our school district, is expanding with business and industry. The District’s location and commitment to education make us the logical choice for many new families moving to the area.
To this purpose, Basehor-Linwood has significantly expanded its facilities over the last several years. A bond issue, valued at $16 million was passed in April of 2015 to construct a Career and Technical Education addition to the high school and expand safety and security features in every attendance center in the District. In September of 2018, Bond 2018 was approved by voters to build an Early Learning Center (which opened in August of 2020), Gray Hawk Elementary School (a K-5 building opening in August of 2021), a new Linwood Elementary building (relocating the K-5 to a more central location to be complete by August 2022), the addition of 14 classrooms and a performing arts center at Basehor-Linwood Middle School, as well as a more secure entrance for Glenwood Ridge Elementary School. Bond 2024 was passed by voters in April of 2024 for safety and security upgrades around the district, an additional classroom wing and a multipurpose room at Basehor-Linwood High School, additional classrooms at the Early Learning Center and other projects as funding allows.
Basehor-Linwood schools have a reputation for excellence, which is reflected by consistently high ACT scores and Basehor-Linwood High School’s recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School in 2012. Our district is dedicated to fostering an environment where every student can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Our committed faculty and staff provide engaging and innovative educational experiences preparing our students for success.
Through rigorous academics, comprehensive co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and a supportive network of mentors and peers, we hope to inspire a love of learning and encourage each student to develop and reach their potential. We also believe in the power of collaboration between school and home, so we encourage parents and guardians to participate actively in their students' education.
