Basehor-Linwood Community Members:
As a result of enrollment analysis conducted by RSP & Associates for USD 458 last year, the Basehor-Linwood School District is predicted to see amazing growth in the next few years!
Key findings by RSP & Associates tell us:
-
This year’s 4th, 5th and 6th grades could be at 250+ (per class) by the time they hit high school (the 2027-2028 school year).
-
This means BLHS enrollment would potentially outgrow the building as it is currently
-
There will be a need for additional classrooms to be built for the 2027-2028 school year
-
Early Learning Center overcrowding is currently mitigated by controlled enrollment at this time, but there is a need for more pre-k classrooms in the community.
-
The ELC was built with the ability to add onto in its current space
The Basehor-Linwood Board of Education held work sessions in April, May and June of last year to outline goals for what the next bond might look like, and created a description of needs based on the projected enrollment growth.
-
The Board would like to stay on the current BLHS campus.
-
There is potential for growth on the northwest side where the old baseball field was.
-
The Board has heard from BLHS students, staff and the community that we are a 5A school and our facilities should reflect that.
-
The Board would like to increase the number of Pre-K and child care classrooms at the Early Learning Center.
