The following procedures shall be employed if a parent, legal guardian, or student over the age of eighteen ("Presenting Party") offers a "Do Not Resuscitate" order or directive ("DNR Order") which complies with the requirements of K.S.A. §65-4941 (1998), et seq.
1. Any such DNR Order shall be given to the building principal, who shall acknowledge receipt thereof by signing and dating a copy thereof. The copy bearing the principal's original signature shall be placed in the student's file, and a copy shall be returned to the Presenting Party, along with a copy of this policy.
2. In the event a student who is the subject of a DNR Order becomes involved in a life-threatening situation, normal life saving procedures, including but not limited to first aid and CPR, shall be implemented so long as the student is on school property, or at school-sponsored activities or events off school property. Emergency medical personnel are to be called immediately; upon their arrival, they shall be notified of the DNR Order (by delivering a copy thereof to them if at all possible), at which time school district personnel shall cease any life saving efforts.
