Basehor-Linwood Food Service

The Basehor-Linwood USD 458 School District participates in the Child School Nutrition Program. All students are encouraged to enjoy this nutritious meal. Applications for free and reduced meals can be found online here. 

How do I check my student’s account balance?
You may check lunch account balances on Skyward Family Access under Fee Management. To receive e-mail notification of a balance less than $5 you must sign up through Skylert. After logging in to Skyward Family Access, follow these steps:

Click on Skylert on the left navigation.

On this page, you will see your options for receiving notifications for School Hours Emergency, Attendance, General, Non-School Hours Emergency, Food Service and Survey messaging. Please make sure your primary phone number is correct in the Primary Phone field. If you’d like to receive the notifications at additional phone numbers, email addresses or to opt-in for text messages, check the appropriate boxes in the matrix on the Skylert page.

Opting in to Skylert Food Service notifications means that you will be notified each Monday if your account is lower than -$5.00. You will continue to receive notifications on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays if your account is under -$0.01. Be sure to click Save near the top right of the Skylert Notifications page.

We qualify for the Child Nutrition Program, why do we have a negative balance?
This is usually a result of a la carte purchases, this includes extra milk, snack milk and all a la carte items available at BLHS and BLMS. If you feel you have been charged in error, please contact our Food Service Director at 913.724.2348.

How do I make a lunch payment?
You may send cash or check to school with your student, please be sure to put the payment in an envelope with your child's name. You may also make payments online with a credit or debit card through Skyward. You will find the option in the Food Service window.

Online payments may only be made by the primary guardian's account. You only need to post or send one payment per family. Siblings, regardless of which building they attend, all share one account. (It is very helpful when sending in a check for your child's account to put your child’s name and teacher’s name down in the memo of your check or if you send it in an envelope put this information on the front of the envelope, especially if you send cash.)

*******Any account showing a negative balance will not be allowed a la carte purchases.

CHECKS SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO USD 458 AND PARENTS MAY DEPOSIT AS MUCH MONEY IN THEIR STUDENT’S ACCOUNT AS DESIRED.
