Technology Acceptable Use Policy

It is important for parents and staff to educate our students on what is expected of them with regards to the USD 458 Technology Use Policy, and what consequences may occur if the policy is not followed.

Please read or share with your student the document below and what it translates to. This includes, but not limited to: student privacy, downloading games, changing backgrounds, and adding programs without permission to district property. Every parent/guardian signs this policy at time of enrollment each year, and students need to have this information in mind when using laptops, i-pads, and computers at school.

16-17 GRES Helpers

It's going to be a GREat year - and even better with your assistance! Here's how you can help. Go to the PTO website and find your child's teacher, which is located on the upper left hand side of the page labeled Classroom Sign-Up Links. Please do not sign up for the same job in multiple classes if it requires simultaneous classroom participation (for example: Signing up for Valentine's games in 2 classes - NO, Signing up for Valentine's Paper Party Supplies in 2 classes - GREat)! We want to give the classrooms the attention they need!

Questions about what each job entails? See the Class Party Responsibilities & Ideas document.

Thanks in advance for any contribution you are able to provide this year!

Thank You

Thank You to all of the parents, staff, and students who came out to volunteer to help with the drive and those who were able to donate to Glenwood Ridge's very first Blood Drive last week!  It was a huge success with 29 units of blood collected, when our goal was 25!  A special shout-out goes to Denise Jons for organizing the event. Thank you so much!

Watch D.O.G.S.

What is WATCH D.O.G.S.®?
WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) is an innovative father involvement program offered by the National Center for Fathering in which Harbor Heights has enthusiastically adopted.  This program focuses on safety and education by using the positive influence of fathers and father-figures for a two-fold purpose:  (1) to provide an unobtrusive fathering presence, and (2) to provide a positive and active role-model for students at the school.  Fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers and uncles are asked to spend at least one day at their student's school volunteering.  They will support the school through monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher's guidance either working one-on-one or in small groups.

Today thousands of school programs world-wide participate in WATCH D.O.G.S.® helping to engage men, inspire children, reduce bullying and enhance the educational environment at school.

In the News

It is a new day in Kansas education.

With the input of more than 2,000 Kansans, the Kansas State Board of Education has set a new Vision for Kansas education where “Kansas leads the world in the success of each student.”

Kansans are demanding higher standards in academic skills, as well as employability and citizenship skills, and the need to move away from a “one-size-fits-all” system that relies exclusively on state assessments from No Child Left Behind. This new vision for education calls for a more student-focused system that provides support and resources for individual success and will require everyone to work together to make it a reality.

Kansans have never backed down from a challenge and certainly not where our children are concerned.

With your support, Kansans Can!
